'March' comes from the Roman 'Martius'. This was originally the first
month of the Roman calendar and was named after Mars, the god of war. In this month we celebrate:
St Patrick's Day in Northern Ireland (and the republic of Ireland) on the 17th of March
St David's Day in Wales on the 1st of March
Mothering Sunday in the UK is the equivalent of Mother Day in other countries. It is on the10th of March. Mothering Sunday is a time when children pay respect to their Mothers. Children often give their Mothers a gift and a card.
Holy Thursday, is the beginning of the three day celebration of Easter. It is on 28th of March
On Good Friday, Christians remember the day when Jesus was crucified on a cross. It is on 29th of March
Easter Sunday This day commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from his death by crucifixion.
